While completely untrue, the theory is widespread, and QAnon followers now count themselves among members of Congress.
Late in 2020, we reported that a dangerous conspiracy theory was being spread by supporters of the far-right wing group QAnon around a drug called adrenochrome. This conspiracy theory is still the center of a lot of curiosity. And it's still false.

What is adrenochrome being harvested by liberal elites from the blood of kidnapped children. The conspiracy theory holds that this drug offers a psychedelic experience and even holds the promise of immortality for those who take it.

While that may sound patently ridiculous, what is adrenochrome conspiracy theory has now made its way beyond the bloodshot eyes of YouTube investigators and into mainstream culture, such as when Dr. Phil featured a woman on his show who claimed that her missing daughter had been kidnapped and tortured for the chemical.
What is adrenochrome?
Adrenochrome is a chemical that’s a byproduct of adrenaline. That’s it. It turns out you don’t need to kidnap children and drain their blood. There are many trusted chemical suppliers, in fact—which we won't be linking to, sorry—that sell it.
The idea of a powerful hallucinogen that could be obtained from the human body, however, was provocative. British author Aldous Huxley made reference to adrenochrome in his book The Doors of Perception (1954), while American author Frank Herbert referenced it in Destination: Void (published in book form in 1966). In the patois of British author Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange (1962), the substance was obliquely mentioned as “drenchrom.”

In the years that followed, the fallacious conceptualization of what is adrenochrome as a human-derived drug has continued to distance itself from scientific fact. Some conspiracists have come to believe that what is adrenochrome not just a hallucinogen but an elixir of youth; well-known liberals who are advanced in age have consequently been accused of prolonging their lives with the substance.
